Nokia changes its famous logo, The company announced its plans to change its logo for the first time ever in nearly 60 years.
The new logo incoporates five different shapes forming the word NOKIA. Its famous blue colour of the old logo has been drooped.
“There was the association to smartphone and nowadays we are a business technology company,” CEO Pekka Lundmark told Reuters.
The Chief Executive, was speaking ahead of a business update by the company on the eve of the Mobile World which takes place in barcelona on Monday.
Lundmark took the job at 2020, where he had set out a plan with 3 plans: reset , acceletrate and scale. With the first plan now complete,the CEO said the second plan is just begenning.
While NOKIA aims to grow its service provider business, where it sells equipment to telecom companies, its main goal is now to sell gear to other companies.
“We had a very good 21% growth last year in enterperise, which is currently about 8% of our sales, 2billion euoros roughly”Lundmark said. “We want to take that to double digits as quickly as possible,”
Major companies have been teaming up with telecom gear makers such as NOKIA to sell private 5G networks and gears for automated factories to customers.
NOKIA also plans to review the growth path of its difreent business and consider making changes, including divestment.
“The signal is very clear.We only want to be in businesses where we can see global leadership.”
NOKIA’s move toward factory automation will also see them clashing with big tech companies such as Microsoft and Amazon.
“There will be multiple diffrent types of cases, sometimes they will also be our partners…sometimes customers…and am sure that they will situations where they are competitiors.”
The market to sell telecom gear is fierce, with macro companies denting demand from high-margin market such as North America, being replaced by growth low -margin India.
