At least 3000 police officers will be deployed to patrol and protect cities during this festive season. The officers will be drawn mainly from the Kenya prisons department.
This notice comes days after the inspector general of police Hillary Mutyambai cancelled leave for all off duty cops and recalled them back to their duty station in a bid to protect Kenyans during this festive season.
The IG made these announcement during a press conference that was organised in a bid to inform Kenyans that they should cooperate with security officers in a bid to preserve peace and security during the holidays. Mutyambai was accompanied by National Transport and Safety Authority officials and the commissioner general of prisons Brigadier (Rtd) John Warioba.
This police offers will be deployed in Nairobi, Mombasa Kisumu and Nakuru. Nakuru Recently joined the elite status of a city. People are expected to flock to these cities in a bid to enjoy their holiday a move that may lead to an increase in crime.
As Majority of Kenyans head home to visit families Friends and relatives, it seems that police officers will not be enjoying the holidays with their families as they will be busy protecting Kenyans.
