Ngilu bankrupted Kitui County; Governor Malombe Says

Kitui Governor Julius Malombe. The governor has accused Charity Ngilu of running down the county.

Newly elected Governor for Kitui County Julius Malombe has alluded that former Governor Charity Ngilu left the county coffers empty. While addressing the third county assembly the governor indicated that the county is facing in-depth challenges. According to the governor Ngilu presided over the worst mismanagement of county resources.

Malombe is on record saying that the county experienced inequitable levels of development. He goes on to say that indeed the county doesn’t have any tangible nor visible development for the past five year. While making his inaugural address to the County assembly. He pleaded with the MCA’s on the need to work together in a bid to spur better public service delivery.

The 70 year old Politician is a long serving Civil servant with a distinguished record and academic qualifications. Prior to being elected the first governor of Kitui in 2013 Dr Julius was a deputy director at the urban and Housing development agency. The reborn politician is keen on turning Kitui around through agriculture and other economic recovery plans.

According to the new county Chief .The former regime oversaw apparent misguided investments, coupled with poor and inept management of county entities. Such investmenst are  the ballast crusher at Kwa Kilui in Yatta/Kwa Vonza ward, the Kitui County Textile Centre (KICOTEC), Kitui Food Industry, the Kitui Pharma Industry, Kitui Youth Industry in Manyenyoni and Livestock Transportation Trucks, among others.

He has also accused the the former governor of living the county with over 2.5 billion shillings in pending bills. According to a report by the Auditor General, County governments are having enormous pending bills. The bills are hindering proper service delivery as suppliers and contractors are avoiding working with the counties.
