Before the Nairobi metropolitan services (NMS) took over the city, it was full garbage, unsafe Parks, foot paths and dilapidated roads.
With such a bad face to it, the city was losing its status in the world. The NMS was formed by the president and tasked with cleaning up the city and restoring its lost glory. This is a feat that the NMS has done and with excellence.
Foot Paths and Roads
A new Bitumen factory was constructed and this helped the NMS to repair roads and build new ones at record time. Garbage collection is being harmonised, making sure that no garbage is lying around the city. Beautiful foot paths are being constructed in a aim to encourage more people to walk or cycle.
The most amazing part for most residents of the city is the creation of more recreational parks in the city. Parks serve the residents with a space where they can rest, picnic or have a lovely time.
The go to place for most of the residents was Uhuru and Central park in the city centre which have in turn become congested. This has led to the establishment of the Michuki memorial park.
The Michuki memorial was repaired and additional facilities such as the open space for meetings. a modern sewerage system and toilet block.
The space has made it possible for Nairobi residents to get ample space where they can enjoy cool air.
Renovations
More and more parks have been earmarked for renovations including the famous Uhuru park that is currently undergoing a serious face lift. According to sources from the NMS, it is believed that Uhuru park is being renovated to include waterfronts and copy the style of the central park in New York city.
Other parks that Kenyans can use are the Jacaranda grounds, Kiserian riparian Reserve, Kamukunji Gardens and the Westlands Botanical Gardens. This parks will be available for Kenyans to use before the works in Uhuru park are finished.
Nairobi is truly transforming its image to that of a global and a world class city.
