The Nairobi Gubernatorial Debate set for Monday 11th July 2022 at the Catholic University of East Africa in Karen will commence at 5.00pm. The debate is expected to pit the nine candidates against each other.
Nairobi city is considered the city in the sun and the big apple in Kenya. The governor of Nairobi is responsible for an annual budget of over 15 billion with local collections expected to match that.
Nairobi has been in the limelight after a take over by the Nairobi Metropolitan services which is part of the executive arm of the national government. according to the recent Opinion polls, UDA’s Johnson Sakaja is leading with over a 6% margin to his closest rival Igathe of Jubilee.
Another serious contender in the race is Business woman cum politician Agnes Kagure. Kagure is depicted as a front runner in the city’s top race after laying her groundwork for the last 5 years.
According to a latest twitter by the Insurance Mogul. She indicated that she slowing down her campaigns in order to give her opponents the chance to catch up with her. Currently there is a mixed reaction on different opinion polls but most of the polls have Sakaja in the lead.
The Nairobi Gubernatorial Debate will lay the ground work for the Presidential and deputy presidential debate to held on the same venue but on different dates. The event will feature top news anchors from different media stations in the country.
This anchors include the following : Serfine Achieng’ Ouma of KBC and Ayub Abdikadir of K24 who will moderate the first group which will include the least popular candidates. Zubeida Koome of KTN and Mark Masai of NTV will moderate the more popular candidates.
The panel Moderator will be Citizen TV Waihiga Mwaura who will also moderate the Presidential debate.
