NACADA War Against Drug and Alcohol Abuse seeks Governors help

As the Crackdown of Counterfeit Alcohol continues, The National Authority for the Campaign against Alcohol and Drug Abuse(NACADA) has announced it plans to intensify the war against drug abuse in the country.

In a statement issued on Friday, NACADA’s chairperson Rev. Stephen Kiptoem Mariori said the authority will engage County Governments and their stake holders to collaborate in finding a solution to drug abuse in the country.

“Having keenly followed the pronouncement by H.E the president in several of his recent public meetings and aware of the growing cases on the problem of alcohol and drug abuse, I take this matter a serious problem which calls for a multi-faceted approach from all key stakeolders if the war is to be won,” said Dr. Stephen.

“In line with this ,we are immediately priotizing deliberations with the Council of Governors ,County governments, and other stake holders in adhearance to these instructions,” the chairperson added.

The new boss who was appointed by The president, repeats the authorities commintment to working with National Governor Administation and other stakeholders in ensuring that the Alcoholic Drinks Control Act 2010 is stricly enforced control substandard , counterfeit and any form of uncertified alcoholic drinks which endager lives.

“Going forward ,we will also engage with stakeholders and propose ameendents to the prevailing legal frameworks to the emerging trends,” he added.

The chairperson also said that they will work closely with Faith-based organizations ,youth organisations , and community based organisations to find a solition to this challange.
