Miguna Miguna,  advocate of the high court of Kenya , who was exiled since 2018 has finally returned  back to the country.

He arrived Thursday morning at Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport following his tweet that said, ‘My arrival in Kenya, October 20 at 6am.’

The 58 year old  lawyer, was deported on 26th march 2018, just after he and other lawyers swore in opposition leader, Raila Odinga as the ‘people president’ following the 2017 presidential elections.

Upon his arrival , Dr Miguna addressed the public thanking his supporters who turned out in a large number to vote for president Ruto in the August 2022 elections. He further said he will be following the numerous court orders that were granted in his favors but disobeyed.

“As you all know, there many court orders that have been accumulating because there are people who acted with exception. In the coming  months, I will make sure to hold those who are accountable for violating my rights for the sake of justice” Dr Miguna said.

Reason for exile

He was deported on February 6, after an arrest for his role in the 2017 controversial swearing. He has had many attempts to return to Kenya, despite the court orders issued to facilitate his return. During a past interview Dr Miguna reveled that he was toured before been removed from Kenya.

In January 13,2020,  Kenyan justice John Mativo summoned Kenyan attorney general Mr Paul Kihara Kariuki to appear in court following the orders that allowed Dr miguna’s return to Kenya had not been obeyed. The attorney general did not appear in court. Instead, he sent a team of lawyers to appear in court on his behalf, prompting protest from Dr Miguna’s lawyer who said that the state was treating the matter casually.
