Mass Covid 19 Vaccination drive launched; Health officials

The Ministry of Health has launched a mass vaccination drive against covid 19. While addressing the press at AFYA house Health Cs Mutahi Kagwe indicated that his ministry is launching the vaccination campaign in a bid to increase the vaccine uptake in the country.http://www.health.go.ke

The Cabinet secretary indicated that ministry is positive that the drive will work effectively. The ministry will also roll out a team that will be used in enforcing measures that were rolled out last year. The health Ministry had issued directives that affected people who were no vaccinated.

According to sources close to the CS, the enforcement measures worked even after the courts declared them illegal. The country has had a low vaccine uptake with only about 20% vaccinated. The ministry is targeting to vaccinate over half the population before the end of the year.

During Last year’s vaccination drive the ministry was able to vaccinate over 9 million Kenyans. They had set a target of over 10 million before the end of 2021 which they were able to achieve partly. The ministry has been reporting a decline in the number of cases and fatalities.

Among the vaccination campaigns that the ministry is rolling out include sensitisation of Kenyans. The ministry has been educating  Kenyans about vaccines. they have been telling Kenyans that all vaccine are effective.
