Majority of Kenyans Want Former President Uhuru To Retire From Politics

The latest polls released by TIFA have shown that a large group of Kenyans want former President Uhuru Kenyatta to avoid politics and enjoy his retirement.

In the poll 59% of those of those who participated in the interview said that he should retire, and stay away from politics. They want Uhuru to be active in his family business if he wants.

However another 36% believe that Uhuru should actively support politicians and policies that he agrees with.

“70% of Kenya Kwanza supporters want Uhuru to retire from politics, compared to 26% of the supporters,” the survey stated.

While doing the polls it was reveled that 59% is undecided.

“51% of Azimio La Umoja supporters believe that Uhuru should remain in politics, and support his views,” the poll stated.

TIFA conducted the interviews from March 11 to 19 with2,065 respondents.

The interviews were conducted in both Swahili and English.

The interviews were done in 9 regions; Central Rift Coast, Lower Eastern, Mt Kenya, Nairobi, Northern , Nyanza, South Rift and Western.

Uhuru supported Raila Odinga in the August , 2022 elections, asking his supporters to vote for him.
