Cabinet Secretary of Education George Magoha issues a directive for all schools to be closed on Tuesday 2nd August to ensure smoothly and continuous preparations for the general elections. This sets out the earlier directive by the CS , where he had instructed schools to close on 6th August.
“Following consultation, I hereby convey the Government’s decision on the immediate closure of all basic education institutions from Tuesday, August 2 until Wednesday, August 10 to ensure that preparations and conduct of upcoming elections is carried out seamlessly,” CS Magoha stated.
He requested head of schools and parents from all basic education institutions to effectively adhere to the directive which will be effective starting Tuesday 2 August.Every student is expected to resume from the short term break on 11th August 2022.
He also added that if elections are repeated then consultations will have o be made t determine whether students will sit for their exams , as students will have lost a lot of time.He wishes that such does not happen.
