It is a big loss for the ODM party as some of their senior leaders in Siaya county ditch the party in favour of UDM. The United Democratic Movement is led by Governor Ali Roba has been a big beneficiary of defections from ODM.

While speaking during the welcoming ceremony at UDM party headquarters Gumbo indicated that he and Owino have decided to ditch the Raila Led party as they feel that the nominations won’t be fair.

Win for ODM as Nomination Dates Extended.

ODM is notoriously known for having the most ruthless and unfair nominations. Especially in the party strongholds where a party ticket almost means a win in the general elections. Gumbo has teamed up with the former police spokesperson, who will be his deputy.

Owino had resigned late last year in a bid to popularise himself with the electorate  in Siaya. However, the former peace officer feels that the partnership with gumbo presents a better chance for the two.

Aspirants

Siaya Gubernatorial race has gained momentum after Senate Minority Whip James Orengo declared interest in the position. Orengo is considered a senior politician and advocate. According to sources close to Orengo, the High Court advocate is very popular and doesn’t need to campaign very much.

However this reports may not mean much as Orengo has been missing from Raila Odinga’s Presidential Campaign. The senior advocate forms a very vital part of the Raila think tank.

Gumbo has on his part reiterated that his defection from ODM means that the county will experience very little to no voter apathy. UDM party is a member of the Azimio la umoja coalition of parties.
