A KRA debt officer attached at JKUAT towers in Nairobi was arrested for requesting a Ksh.50K bribe.
Ismail Ahmed Mire is said to have demanded the bribe from a complainant in order to change a wrongly accrued VAT tax penalty.
The victim reported the matter to the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission on March 8,2023, upon which investigations were commenced.
The EACC detectives accompanied the complainant to JKUAT towers on March 15 where ho met Mire and gave him an incomplete bribe of Ksh.40,000 after a brief conversation.
The debt officer was arrested immediately after receiving the bribe. The EACC revealed that after a body search he was found in possession of the said money.
He was taken to the Integrity Centre Police Station where he was processed and released on cash bail.
