Kisii; Azimio Protests Paralyze Matatu Operations

Matatu operators travelling Kisii-kisumu-Migori routes today kept off over fear they could be attacked by demonstrators due to the mass protests..

The residents kept of the protests but  aired out their injustices to members of the press as security officers kept a stern watch.

 

Stanley Osiemo one of the operators said passengers were refusing to travel due to fear, adding that the operators also feared their vehicles could be stoned owing to the protests in Kisumu City.

“We have no business and the protests have affected our passengers. We do not know what we will eat today.” Osiemo said.

He pleaded to both Raila Odinga and the President to talk it out , for the government to reduce the high cost of living of Kenyans.

 

Another resident a parent, said that the protests have affected children who were to return to school yesterday after the end of their midterm break.

He said that the protests had disrupted the children, adding that it would affect their education .

A Kisii town small scale traders chairman, Jane Matiebe said the residents kept off urban areas due to fear, lamenting that the move had left traders idle.

She urged the Azimio leaders to stop organizing the protests saying it is affecting business and ruining the country’s economy.
