Kenyan arrested in Tanzania gets Help from Foreign Affairs CS Alfred Mutua

Foreign Affairs Cabinet secretary Alfred Mutua has come to the rescue of a kenyan Man suffering in Tanzania for the last two years.

Foreign Affairs CS Alfred Mutua has come to the rescue of a Kenyan man based in Tanzania. The man in question has been having legal troubles in the southern country after being accused of armed robbery. His story has been doing rounds in social media after it emerged that the man hand been suffering and his passport had been confiscated.

According to an audio that has gone viral, Fredrick Omondi went to Tanzania in 2016 to work as a human resources officer, but misfortune befell him in 2021.In a social media post on Tuesday, Mutua said the plea has reached his office, and he has directed a team in Tanzania to follow up the matter.

“I have noted the online clip of Kenyan Frederick Omondi who is being held in Tanzania. I have directed our TZ team to find out the whole story & to assist him. As I had said earlier, EVERY Kenyan who is outside Kenya will receive attention and support regardless of the situation,” Mutua wrote.

Omondi said he went to Tanzania at the request of Zachariah Hans Pope, who was constructing a hotel and wanted him to serve as his human resource manager.

However, Hans Pope died in 2021, and the new management of the hotel accused him of being responsible for the theft of items at the construction site. He got another job in Dar es Salam, but his previous employer reported the alleged theft case to police. 

“A battalion of cops came to my workplace with the brother of my late boss, they said I had stolen about Tsh.500 million,” he said. Omondi claims that he was charged with various offences, including armed robbery, obtaining money by false pretence, and his passport has been seized.
