Post by : Ann Njambuya

The jubilee party through its secretary general has denied that it sponsored the election bill in parliament. The new election bill had been tabled in parliament by Majority leader Amos Kimunya. The bill has elicited a lot of debate from both sides of the divide.

The bill has been described by senior leaders across the divide as retrogressive. According to Ruto the bill is a new way of the system and deep state way of trying to rig elections. Deputy president instructed his brigade to shoot down the bill in parliament. His orders were echoed by ODM party leader Raila Odinga who also instructed his lawmakers to shoot down the bill.

This is the first bill that has been tabled in parliament that has made all side of the divide agree. During his address in a local television show, Jubilee secretary General Raphael Tuju indicated that his party will also reject the bill.

In his remarks Tuju indicated that the bill was sponsored by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission. He said that the bill aimed at watering down the gains that have been made in the constitution.
