Investigations Launched After A Gunman Shoots Dead Judicial Officer

Chief Justice Martha Koome has announced  that an investigation has been launched to investigate the death of a senior court assistant at Migori law court who was shot dead on Friday , May 5, 2023.

In a press release, Koome stated that the police were investigating the matter, and that the judiciary will make the information public once they get details from the officers on the case.

While assuring the family of justice, The Chief Justice, sympathized with the family and with their situation.

“The matter is being investigated by local police and we will provide further details to the judiciary family and wider public once the details of the investigation are made available.”

The deceased, Phoebe Auma Suda, was shot dead while in the company of a bodaboda operator as she was heading to work.

Preliminary findings revealed that Phoebe was shot dead by unknown gunman riding on a motorbike with hidden number plates.

At the time, Phoebe and her rider were slowing down to join the Kisii-Migori highway.

The suspect, currently on the run, shot phoebe twice in the head and neck before shooting the bodaboda rider in the head.

The gunman disappeared into the highway, leaving the two dead.
