I am Worth 4 billion:Prime Cabinet Secretary Mudavadi tells Vetting committee

President Ruto and Mudavadi during a past event at the beginning of the year. The president has just appointed the ANC party leader as the Prime Cabinet Secretary. The third most powerful position in the government.

Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has set the record straight during his vetting in the national assembly. The former Minister indicated that he is worth only 4 billion shillings. This revelation is shocking as Mudavadi becomes one of the richest Cabinet secretaries to serve in the Kenyan Cabinet.

The ANC party leader had been nominated by the President as the prime cabinet secretary. This position is expected to be the third most powerful position in government. Mudavadi is expected to carry out a litany of functions that are under his docket. Some of this functions include the coordination and supervision of government projects. He is also expected to liaise with the legislative leadership in a bid to enhance the Government vision of service delivery.

According to the Cabinet Nominee, his income comes from my investments in shares in various companies and also the properties I own. This income emanates from dividends, rental income, interest and other expenses that come from the farm.

Mudavadi was the first cabinet Nominee to be Vetted by parliament. The national assembly is expected by law to vet appointees to the cabinet. Mudavadi will be followed by Attorney General Nominee Justin Muturi. Garissa MP Aden Duale (CS defence nominee), Maendeleo Chap Chap Party Leader Alfred Mutua (CS Foreign Affairs Nominee) and Kandara MP Alice Wahome ( CS water and Irrigation).

Mudavadi also clarified that he has resigned from his position as the Party leader of the Amani National Congress. According to the President all nominees to the Cabinet will have to relinquish their party leadership positions. All those affected include Alfred Mutua of the Maendeleo Chap Chap. Justin Muturi of the Democratic party and Musalia Mudavadi of the ANC party.
