Tanzanian president Samia Suluhu has order that all police officers should go back to training immediately. The police officers are expected to lose the additional weight they have gained over time.
The remarkable politician made the remarks while she was inspecting a guard of honour. She noted that most of the veteran officers were big-bellied. Her remarks comes at a time where big bellies are associated with ample success and wealth especially in Africa.
There is a public notion that, people who are wealth should not be lean as they don’t have time to exercise. Police officers are expected to fit in order to perform their duties. This especially expected for the police officers who patrol the streets and a in the field on a day to day basis.

Her comments come barely 2 months after she fired the inspector general of police. The inspector was later deployed to Zimbabwe as an envoy by the president. Samia Suluhu has described as a remarkable leader. She has been recognised as one of the most influential leaders in the world by the time magazine.
Samia took over from her predecessor John Pombe Magufuli. After taking over she was tasked with rejuvenating her country’s diplomatic and economic ties.
