Former officials who served during Kidero,s term have been jailed for graft and corruption .Former County Chief Finance Officer Jimmy Kiamba , former secretary Lilian Ndegwa former senior secretary in the department of finance Regina Chepkemboi Rotich and former head of treasury Stephen Ogaga Osiro.
The officials were convicted guilty of nine charges ,created a forged document , circulated it into the public ,tax evasion among others.
According to justice Esther maina’s decreed total fine of Sh9.6million was to be paid or each to serve a 12 years jail-term.
The magistrate Kennesy Bidali had found the defendants not guilty in January 2018 ,which he termed as bereft evidence. Justice Maina said that the magistrate was mistaken for giving a verdict of not guilty ,since their was adequate evidence.
“Mr Kiamba and Ms Ndegwa acted in blatant violation of the law governing public procurement and ought not to have been acquitted. It is my finding therefore that the magistrate erred in acquitting them when the prosecution had produced overwhelming evidence of proving their guilt,” Justice Maina decreed.
The four committed the corruption offences on February 2014 at the city hall Nairobi.
