Mount Kenya region boosts of very many accomplishment. some of this accomplishments include being the largest ethnic community in the country,. contributing  the largest to the country’s GDP. Producing three presidents. Having the highest number of self made billionaires in the East African region.

All these reasons have made the region a desired region for politicians as they seeks their votes in the upcoming general elections. In the past the region always had a strong leader in the presidential election. however in the upcoming general election, the mount Kenya Region doesn’t have a strong contender in the presidential elections.

This slot in leadership at the presidency has  been left William Ruto and Raila Odinga who all fighting over the voter rich Region. according to past and recent survey polls, William Ruto is the preferred presidential candidate in the mountain region.

A group of leaders allied to the president have been trying to dismantle Ruto’s influence in the region with no success. this has promoted the ODM party Leader to spend most of his time in the region as he seeks to consolidate their votes.

According to political pundits, this is the last jab that the ODM party leader has at the presidency and the Mount Kenya votes will go a long way to a win. Raila is expected to visit the county of Nyandarua on a three day  campaign tour. the leader is expected to make stop overs.

The Azimio la umoja leader is expected to popularise his call for unity platform and also attack Ruto’s bottom up economic model.It seems as if the mountain region will as always be the key determining factor in the national politics. Rumours have indicated that Raila is even considering a running mate from the region.
