The DCI intends to charge Dr. Fred Matiang’i in court for claiming that police raided his home on February 9.
According to a statement , Dr. Matiang’i is set to be charged with conspiracy to commit a felony.
In the statement, Dr. Matiang’i is accused that ‘between 8th February and 9th February 2023 at Karen View Estate within Nairobi, with intent to cause panic, chaos or violence among citizens of the Republic of Kenya jointly with another published in the media that your house had been raided by a battalion or Garrison of Police Officers intending to arrest you a fact you knew to be false.”
The former CS is also charged with a second county of publication of false information contrary to section 23 of the computer misuse and cybercrime Act No. 5 2018.
Dr. Matiang’i was summoned at the DCI headquarters on Tuesday to give a report on his clais that his home was raided
His legal team however insists that, that they have anticipatory bail orders and will not allow their client to be detained.
