The Ministry of Health has announced 88 news cases of Covid-19 in the country, bringing total infections to 170, 735.

The new cases are from 1,668 samples tested in the last 24 hours.

In a statement on Monday, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe also announced 15 deaths, all of which are from facility audits conducted in April.

The new cases are distributed across counties as follows; Nairobi 30, Nandi 10, Turkana 7, Kericho 6, Mombasa 5, Kirinyaga 4, Kakamega, Kiambu and Uasin Gishu three cases each, Garissa, Kajiado, Nakuru, Siaya and Kisumu two cases each.

Kisii, Laikipia, Machakos, Bungoma, Meru, Migori and West Pokot recorded a case each.

Total recoveries now stand at 116, 847 after 71 patients recovered from the disease, 64 from the home-based isolation and care while seven are from various health facilities.

A total 1,237 patients are admitted in various hospitals while 4, 661 are on Home-based isolation and care.

Some 93 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit, 21 of whom are on ventilatory support and 55 on supplemental oxygen. Another 17 patients are on observation.

According to the CS, 87 other patients are on supplemental oxygen with 81 of them in general wards and six in the High Dependency Unit.
