Chebukati’s fear over Possible postponement of election date in some areas.

IEBC, Chairperson Wafula Chebukati has announced that elections will be postponed in some areas. He is worried that areas such as Nairobi, Kiambu and Mombasa maybe affected by this decision.

IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati. The commission ahs locked out over 34 aspirants in the presidential race. This is after the aspirants failed to meet the deadline to submit signatures.

For instance, in Mombasa the court has ordered the halting on the printing of ballot papers, due to Sonko’s pending petition which will determine whether he will be cleared to contest for the Mombasa Gubernatorial seat or not. This comes after IEBC dismissed him referring to his impeachment.

The Independent and Boundaries Commission chairperson pleaded with the chief Justice to quicken her decree on the cases so as to evade the delay of printing ballot papers

“If for any reason they are not finalised in good time, as a commission we cannot wait forever, we shall be forced to suspend election in those areas where decisions affect the printing of ballot papers. We must deliver elections on August 9,” Chebukati said

He also mentioned that in case the P Lykos printing company in Anthems, Greece should face any unavoidable challenges, a Romanian printing firm will take over.
