Boris Johnson to resign as the British Prime Minister of United Kingdom and as the party leader of the conservation party, making way for a new prime minister.
He made this decision following the resignations of more than 50 members of his party in less than 48 hours, who claimed he was no longer fit to govern.
“His recognition was inevitable, as a party we must quickly unite and focus on what matters. These are the serious times of many forms. ‘Justin Tomlinson, Deputy chairman of the conservative party, said on Twitter.
Johnson did not become emotional, nor did he apologise for his behaviour, instead he blames his party for his downfall. ‘When the herd moves, it moves. And my friends, in politics, no one is remotely indispensable, ‘Johnson said.
Johnson said he will serve until a new leader is appointed. He appointed a new cabinet of officials to replace all the ministers who had abandoned him. Boris pledges not to implement new policies or make major changes of direction.
‘’I know there are many people who are relieved and perhaps quite a few who will be disappointed. I want you to know how sad I am to be giving up the best job in the world. But them’s the breaks,’’ Johnson said. Johnson replacement by the conservatives, may take six weeks or even longer.
