The azimio brigade has today received a very hefty blow after Munya declared that he will not resign. Munya was expected to resign and contest the Meru Gubernatorial seat. The Meru politician was the First Governor of Meru county.
Currently The Cabinet Secretary for Agriculture is considered that party Leader of Party of National Unity (PNU). With Munya chickening out of resigning Azimio are left pleading with Kiraitu Murungi to join their team. Kiraitu Murungi is the current Governor of Meru and the Party leader of the devolution party of Kenya.
Peter was appointed to the cabinet by President Uhuru Kenyatta after the 2017 general elections. This was done as a reward to the people of Meru for having voted overwhelmingly for the President.
The CS has been a very instrumental figure in the azimio team. he is considered the voice of Mount Kenya during the meetings. While a majority of his colleagues are resigning to seek political mandate. The Outspoken CS has indicated that he will stay on until the end of Uhuru’s term.

He has however reiterated that he will be involved greatly at the national politics as he seeks to re-engineer his party. the Party of National Unity has suffered since the hotly contested elections of 2007. The party was the led by retired president Mwai Kibaki.
