A Groom And His Brother Killed After Bride’s Ex Gifts Them An Explosive Present

India police in Chhattisgarh state have launched an investigation to an incident which  a groom and his brother were killed when they received a gift a home theater that exploded.

Reports say, the music system was allegedly given to the couple by the bride’s ex lover, who was jealous and angry that his former wife was getting hitched.

The groom, Hemendra Merawi died on Monday in his home Kabirdham district immediately after he turned on the music system. His elder brother succumbed as a result of his injuries.

Other four family members, including an 18-month child , were also injured and taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The explosion was so powerful that it brought down the house’s roof and walls.

The suspect, Sarju Markam, was arrested shortly after the incident occurred in the neighboring state of Madhya Pradesh.

It was reported that the suspect, a father of two was in a relationship with the 29-year-old and he desired her to be his second wife.

“Markam had initially lied to Merawi’s wife that he was not married. After she realized the truth, she refused to marry him. But he kept threatening her to marry him,” Police statement read.

During the wedding, the suspect is said to have placed the music system on a platform along other gifts.

The suspect would later confess to the police that he had rigged the gifts with explosives targeting his ex-lover and her man.
